Dr. Raymond J. Brill
Dr. Brill graduated cum laude from Illinois College of Optometry with BSVS and OD degrees after completing undergraduate studies at Northern Illinois University. He received a scholarship from the Illinois Optometric Association and a U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship. While undergoing his professional training, Dr. Brill served four years in the US Army Reserves doing military and medical training while on active duty in the hospitals at Ft. Jackson, SC, Ft Bragg, NC and Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Brill served as the Division Optometrist at Ft. Riley, KS for four years, leaving the service with the rank of Captain. After spending a year in a pediatric ophthalmology practice doing exams under anesthesia and infant post-cataract contact lens fitting n the operating rooms at St. Lukes Hospital and Childrens Mercy Hospital, Dr. Brill began his own practice in 1983–Brill Eye Center in Mission, KS.
Dr. Brill is an early adopter of technology, and his practice is diverse with an emphasis on specialty contact lenses, anterior segment diseases like cataracts and dry eye syndrome, and luxury frames and lenses.
He has served the community and the profession on various boards such as the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor’s Land Planning Committee. Dr Brill is currently is on the Advisory Committee of the Gas Permeable Lens Institute and is an Executive with OD Excellence, the fastest growing practice enhancement company in the U.S. for which Dr Brill helps educate his colleagues on solving practice problems and developing new professional skills.
In 2010, Dr. Brill earned an Executive MBA degree with Top Honors from the Bloch School of Management in Kansas City with emphasis in innovation and entrepreneurship and was appointed to the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Business fraternity. Dr. Brill has earned professional Fellowship designations with the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the Orthokeratology Academy of America (FOAA), and achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry in 2011.
